The annual health insurance Open Enrollment period will begin on Monday November 1st 2021 and end on January 15th 2022.  As with previous years, this year will bring a variety of changes and new plan options.  Keep in mind that in order to have active coverage on the first of the upcoming month, your enrollment needs to be completed by the 15th.

So for example, if you need to have active health insurance on January 1st, you would need to complete your enrollment no later than December 15th.  Enrolling on the 16th would result in coverage that starts on February 1st.  Here are a few other things to keep in mind during Open Enrollment.

New Healthcare Plans, Coverage Options and Enrollment Details

During Open Enrollment, some of the industry’s major carriers introduce new plans while making adjustments to plans offered in the past.  If your situation has changed in the past year, this is a good time to evaluate your coverage and determine if a different plan offers benefits that are better suited to your needs. You also have a bit more time to sign up, as the 2022 enrollment period will run a month longer, ending on January 15th 2022.

Health Insurance That Covers Covid-related Expenses

One of the most universal concerns regarding health insurance and Open Enrollment, is how the various carriers and plans help cover the cost of COVID-related treatments and expenses.  Each plan is unique, and this is really one area where it can be helpful to work with a local health insurance agent in your area.  They know each plan in detail, and can help you find one that offers the best coverage for your added peace of mind.

Working with an Agent Can Simplify the Enrollment Process

Healthcare Open Enrollment can be complicated and quite time-consuming, especially if you’re new to the process.  Working with a local health insurance agency is a smart way to guarantee a flawless enrollment, while expediting the sign-up process and having a local contact with faster access the major carriers.  There are no additional fees, as premiums are identical from agent to agent.  If an agent is promising you lower rates, this should serve as an immediate red flag.
